Let me start by saying, I think I found my new favorite place.. New York City. New York was just as beautiful as I expected, if not more. Growing up in a loud home (my father was a heavy metal drummer), I find peace in commotion and busyness. So naturally, I love cities. New York has always been at the top of my list of travel destinations & I my BF and I spontaneously bought tickets and said, “If not now, then when?” I mean it’s the fashion capital of the world, of course I’d want to visit.
I find inspiration everywhere I go and implement it into my life and my art. I look at shapes, colors, architecture, historic relics, different cultures and even people. New York is extremely diverse and I find that incredibly inspiring. It just goes to show that we are all capable of living together. It’s a beautiful reminder that even though we all come from different parts of the world with different backgrounds, we’re all human and we are all connected.
New York is a feeling and you know what I mean if you’ve ever been in the city. Billions of people have found inspiration in New York’s buildings, its energy, and its people but there’s also so many hidden gems, moments, and experiences throughout the five boroughs that go a long way towards inspiring Gotham’s reputation as the greatest city in the world.
Here’s some activities we did on our trip:
- Walk around Times Square & get a New York Pizza from Joe’s Pizza (Obviously)
- Grab a coffee & a bagel at Liberty Bagels (NY bagels are something else)
- Walk around Rockefeller (lots of food options)
- Ice skating at Bryant Park by the Christmas tree
- Visit Grand Central Station (it looks just like the movies)
- A day long bus tour that took us through all 5 Boroughs of NYC: Manhattan, Harlem, The Bronx, Queens & Brooklyn. The tour ended in Dumbo & we got drinks at The Timeout Market in Brooklyn.
- SUMMIT One Vanderbilt for an incredible immersive experience and a fantastic view of Midtown.
- Comedy Cellar… we went twice lol
- The Balloon Museum (another really neat immersive experience)
- Had to get some people watching in of course..
- Chinatown for Dinner at Shanghai 21 for the best soup dumplings ive ever had
- We even got to go to a speakeasy in the city!
- Dinner at Parkside Restaurant (their pasta is ah-mazing and they give you BEST bread basket)
- My very first Broadway Show at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Sweeney Todd
Keep in mind you will walk A LOT when visiting NY. We averaged at about 18,000 steps a day, even though we took the metro a ton. Oh and don’t forget to watch the sunset! Sunset Park is a great option for this but get anywhere up high in NY and the views are just breathtaking.
